Merck, a leading global healthcare company, has expanded its fertility benefits program to include employees based in New Zealand. This initiative, aimed at supporting employees’ family planning regardless of marital status or sexual orientation, marks a significant step in Merck’s commitment to inclusivity.
Rebecca Lee, Managing Director of Merck Life Science Australia and New Zealand, emphasized the company’s dedication to employee well-being. “We are pleased to announce that eligible employees and their partners in New Zealand will now have access to comprehensive fertility benefits,” Lee stated. These benefits encompass a range of services such as fertility tests, in vitro fertilisation (IVF) treatments, and hormonal therapies.
Lee further highlighted Merck’s broader efforts to foster a supportive environment. “In addition to medical services, we provide extensive information resources and have established a peer support network focused on fertility,” she added.
The expansion to New Zealand is part of Merck’s global initiative, extending these benefits to 27 countries worldwide. Josie Downey, Managing Director of Merck Healthcare Australia and New Zealand, expressed enthusiasm about the program’s impact. “We are delighted to support our employees in their journey towards parenthood,” Downey affirmed.
Merck’s commitment to employee welfare has rapidly expanded since the program’s inception in October 2023. Now covering nearly 50 countries and reaching 98% of its global workforce, the initiative underscores Merck’s proactive approach to supporting its diverse employee base.
This expansion reflects Merck’s ongoing dedication to enhancing employee benefits and fostering an inclusive workplace environment globally.
