Laura Adlington, a finalist from the 2020 series of The Great British Bake Off, has shared the joyful news that she is expecting her first child after years of fertility struggles.
The 34-year-old baker revealed her pregnancy on Instagram, where she posted a touching photo of herself holding a scan picture alongside her husband, Matt. The couple, who have been on a long and emotional journey to parenthood, are set to welcome their baby in October.
Adlington’s path to pregnancy has been challenging. She was previously advised that she would need to lose 14 stone to conceive, with IVF being her only option. In a 2022 interview with Fabulous Magazine, she described the pain of infertility, saying, “Unless you’ve gone through infertility and that heartache of really wanting it and it not happening… It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever gone through.”
After a failed IVF cycle and a cancelled round, Laura learned earlier this year that she was finally pregnant, marking a long-awaited milestone in her journey to motherhood. Despite the challenges, Adlington’s announcement has been met with widespread support and joy from her followers.
