FT LAUDERDALE, FL, UNITED STATES — February 27, 2025 /EINPresswire.com/ — The 7th Annual Florida Fertility Expo, scheduled for April 18-19, 2025, will spotlight three trailblazing Black women at the forefront of reproductive health advocacy. In honor of Black History Month, Michelle McKoy, Jocelyn Gordon, and Jamarah Amani are being recognized for their groundbreaking work in infertility awareness, integrative medicine, and maternal health. Their efforts are reshaping the reproductive health landscape, creating pathways for education, empowerment, and advocacy, particularly for Black women and underserved communities.
Taking place at the Urban League of Broward County, the expo will focus on the intersection of race, reproductive health, and access to care. Black women face disproportionate challenges in fertility treatment, maternal healthcare, and reproductive rights, and these three women are dedicated to addressing these disparities.
Three Black Women Revolutionizing Reproductive Health
Michelle McKoy: Infertility Awareness Advocate & Founder of the Florida Fertility Expo Diagnosed with endometriosis and chronic pelvic pain, McKoy spent two decades struggling in silence before turning to integrative medicine and IVF to conceive her daughter. Her personal journey inspired the creation of the Florida Fertility Expo, a platform designed to educate and support individuals facing fertility challenges. Through her advocacy, McKoy raises awareness about infertility, which affects 1 in 6 individuals, and emphasizes the importance of early reproductive health education to break the silence surrounding these issues.
Jocelyn Gordon: Champion of Integrative Medicine in Fertility and Pregnancy With over 20 years of experience as a fertility coach, Gordon has helped countless women achieve pregnancy through a combination of holistic and medical approaches. Having personally overcome endometriosis and adenomyosis, she conceived two daughters at the age of 40, proving that Black women can redefine reproductive timelines. Gordon specializes in supporting women with conditions like PCOS, hormone imbalances, and fertility wellness, bridging the gap between conventional medicine and natural healing practices.
Jamarah Amani: Birth Justice Advocate & Maternal Health Expert Amani is a passionate advocate for equitable maternal care, particularly for Black women and babies. She has received the 2019 Trailblazer Award from the City of Miami for her work in the Birth Justice movement. As the founder of Black Midwives Day, director of the Southern Birth Justice Network, and co-founder of the National Black Midwives Alliance, Amani has spent over 15 years fighting the maternal mortality crisis disproportionately affecting Black women. Through her efforts, she ensures that pregnancy and childbirth are empowering, safe experiences for all women.
