The Jersey Shore family is expanding, as Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola, one of the beloved stars of the show, revealed that she and her fiancé, Justin May, are expecting their first child. The couple made the joyous announcement over the weekend, sharing their journey with fans on Instagram.
“Baby May due August 2025,” Sammi and Justin wrote in a heartfelt post. “After struggling through years of infertility, this is the absolute greatest blessing we could ever possibly ask for! Our hearts have never been so full of love, and we can’t wait to meet our little miracle!”
In the comments, Sammi expressed her gratitude for the outpouring of support from fans while also offering words of encouragement to others facing infertility. “If you’re struggling through infertility, don’t give up! Miracles do happen!” she shared.
Sammi had previously opened up about her fertility struggles and IVF journey on Jersey Shore Family Vacation during Season 7. Initially hesitant to share such personal details publicly, she ultimately decided to let MTV cameras document her experiences. She disclosed that endometriosis had made it more difficult for her to conceive.
During the Season 7 reunion, Sammi reflected on how sharing her IVF journey had helped not only herself but also others. “I can’t believe how many people are suffering or going through similar situations as me. It’s overwhelming in a good way,” Sammi said. “I’m learning from others’ experiences, and maybe my story can help others going through the same thing.”
Before her pregnancy announcement, Sammi experienced the heartbreak of a miscarriage after a failed round of IVF. In a poignant moment from the show, she opened up about the emotional toll of the loss, describing the long process of IVF and how devastating it was to lose the pregnancy. “Just the thought of even being pregnant was such a magical moment for me, and to have that taken away was devastating,” Sammi revealed.
Through it all, Sammi credited Justin for his unwavering support. “He’s so positive and uplifting. He’s so special to me, and I just love him,” she said. “He’s been by my side through this whole thing.”
Sammi’s Jersey Shore co-stars were quick to celebrate the good news, flooding the comment section of her post with congratulatory messages. “SSOOOOOOOO HAPPY FOR YOU BOTH!” wrote Angelina Pivarnik. “My heart is so happy for you both!” commented Lauren Sorrentino. “You’re going to be the best mommy!” Deena Cortese added.
Even Sammi’s ex, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, gave a nod of approval by liking her announcement post, leading to some playful fan speculation. However, many fans defended the gesture, emphasizing that Sammi and Ronnie had long moved on from their past relationship.
This will be the first child for both Sammi and Justin, though they have yet to announce the baby’s gender. The baby will join a growing number of Jersey Shore cast members who have children, making Sammi’s little one the 13th addition to the Jersey Shore family.
