Sunway Fertility Centre (SFC) recently celebrated a remarkable milestone—the birth of 1,100 babies conceived through in vitro fertilization (IVF). This achievement highlights the centre’s unwavering commitment to helping couples realize their dreams of parenthood through state-of-the-art fertility treatments.
The milestone was marked with a special cake-cutting ceremony at both Sunway Medical Centre and SFC Kuching. The event also featured family activities, including screenings for ear and language development for the IVF babies.
Woon Ming Ming, Chief Executive Officer of Sunway Fertility Centre, emphasized that reaching this milestone reflects the dedication and expertise of the clinic’s specialists, nurses, and support staff. “This celebration goes beyond numbers; it’s about the countless hopes and new beginnings we’ve helped create for families. Our goal is to continue bringing joy to even more families through cutting-edge fertility care,” she said.
Highlighting the importance of early treatment, Woon also stressed that infertility remains a significant issue in Malaysia, urging couples to seek personalized treatment early and never lose hope. “There is no one-size-fits-all solution; we offer tailored assessments and counseling to ensure each couple receives the best care,” she added.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), infertility is increasingly becoming a global concern. As a result, SFC has seen a surge in international patients, with 20% of its clients being from abroad—nearly double the number recorded in 2022.
Equipped with advanced imaging and genetic testing technology, Sunway Fertility Centre provides a range of services to support IVF success. These include cryopreservation of reproductive cells, surgical sperm retrieval, egg and sperm donation, reproductive surgeries, and treatments for conditions like endometriosis and Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS).
Since receiving certification from the Reproductive Technology Accreditation Committee (RTAC) in 2023, SFC has earned further recognition, winning the Healthcare Asia Awards 2024 in the Customer Service Initiative of the Year – Malaysia category for its patient-centered care. A key feature of their approach is the 24-hour Patient Careline, which is managed by qualified fertility nurses to offer ongoing support to patients.
