Women in the North East now have access to a pioneering, dedicated endometriosis clinic, the first of its kind in the region, providing faster and more accessible specialist care for one of the most common yet frequently overlooked female health conditions.
Located at Infinity House on Surtees Business Park in Stockton, the new clinic is operated by Consultants Choice Clinic, which promises to deliver a “painless pathway” to treatment while helping alleviate pressure on NHS services. As the only dedicated endometriosis clinic within a 100-mile radius, the facility fills a critical gap in care for women suffering from the condition.
Endometriosis, affecting roughly one in ten women, occurs when tissue similar to the lining of the womb grows outside of the uterus, often causing chronic pelvic pain, heavy periods, and in some cases, infertility. Previously, the closest specialist clinics were located in Manchester and Edinburgh, leaving patients in the North East with limited options and long waiting times for NHS care. The new clinic offers an alternative, allowing patients to self-refer without the need for a GP appointment, significantly reducing wait times.
The clinic also introduces innovative diagnostic techniques that eliminate the need for MRI scans, providing a more efficient and streamlined process for patients seeking treatment.
Hailey Dobbs, founder and managing director of Consultants Choice Clinic, highlighted the gap in care for local women, saying, “Given the widespread prevalence of endometriosis, it’s shocking how limited local support options were in the North East before we launched. Our clinic aims to change that by making care more accessible, faster, and providing a much-needed local solution.”
Dobbs also noted the impact of long NHS waiting lists and GP appointment delays, stressing that women with endometriosis, a condition that can cause debilitating pain and affect fertility, often need urgent treatment. She continued, “By offering an affordable, efficient service, our clinic not only helps individual patients but also supports the NHS by providing an additional route for care.”
With the launch of this new clinic, women in the North East now have a valuable resource to manage and treat endometriosis, improving their chances of early intervention and better health outcomes.
