Men in Western Australia are the first in the world to have access to a groundbreaking fertility test kit that can be used in the privacy of their own homes. Starting this Friday, men can purchase the innovative $149 kit from Pharmacy 777, marking a global first in male fertility testing.
Developed by Sapyen, a company led by founder and CEO Ashwin Ramachandran, the kit offers a laboratory-grade fertility test that eliminates the need for a clinical visit. Ramachandran emphasized the company’s mission to make fertility health more accessible and convenient for men, much like the way pregnancy tests revolutionized women’s health.
“We wanted to create something that’s simple, safe, and private,” Ramachandran said. “Our goal is to reduce the anxiety typically associated with in-clinic procedures and make fertility testing easier for men.”
The test kit’s breakthrough technology, Sapyen’s sperm stabilisation fluid known as SPX72, enables sperm samples to be collected, stored, and mailed to a laboratory for analysis. The technology preserves sperm viability for up to 72 hours—far longer than typical sperm samples, which only last about an hour. This innovation makes the test accessible to men in rural or remote areas who may otherwise have difficulty getting a sample to a lab in time.
According to Sapyen, their sperm stabilisation fluid has been shown to be 135% more accurate than competing products, further enhancing the reliability of the test.
Sapyen’s partnership with Pharmacy 777 allows the test kits to be available directly on the shelves, ensuring greater accessibility and privacy for customers. “The collaboration with Pharmacy 777 is key to our mission of making male fertility testing convenient and private,” said Ramachandran.
Pharmacy 777’s Adrian Fulco expressed excitement over the partnership, highlighting the company’s commitment to improving health outcomes for the community. “We’re proud to support Sapyen in offering this new, innovative approach to male fertility testing,” he said. “It’s a significant step forward in meeting the health needs of our customers.”
Sapyen’s breakthrough technology and its commitment to improving men’s health have garnered attention, with the company recently named the most innovative health industry company at the 2024 BOSS Awards.
