Pavel Durov, the billionaire founder of the popular messaging platform Telegram, has reportedly made his sperm available for free to women in Russia undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF). The 40-year-old entrepreneur, who has an estimated net worth of $15.5 billion, has donated his sperm to the AltraVita IVF clinic in Moscow. The clinic is promoting this offer with a bold statement: “You can undergo the procedure of in vitro fertilization (IVF) absolutely free of charge, using donor sperm from Pavel Durov, one of the most famous and successful entrepreneurs of our time.”
However, the deal is shadowed by controversy. Earlier this year, Durov was arrested in France as part of an investigation into cybercrime and fraud. The charges against him include alleged involvement in distributing child sexual abuse material, money laundering, and trafficking illegal drugs. These serious accusations led to a travel ban, preventing Durov from leaving France. Telegram has vehemently denied the allegations, asserting that both the company and its founder have “nothing to hide.”
While Durov’s decision to offer his sperm may raise eyebrows, it has sparked considerable attention, further blending the lines between his business ventures and personal choices.
