As an Indian American woman, I have faced many challenges, and one that has been particularly difficult for me and my husband is infertility. While we both deeply desire to have children, we have been struggling for several years, experiencing painful miscarriages along the way. Despite these hardships, we remain hopeful for the future and are still on the path to parenthood with the support of our reproductive endocrinologist and a dedicated team of experts.
The journey through IVF has brought us closer to our dream of starting a family, and we continue to hold onto hope that one day we will bring a baby into this world. It’s not just the personal connection I have with Vice President Kamala Harris as a woman of color that leads me to support her; it’s her commitment to defending reproductive rights and ensuring that women can make choices about their health and future.
Kamala Harris stands firm in her promise to protect the reproductive freedoms of all women, guaranteeing the privacy of patients and providers. She champions the right to choose, along with access to vital reproductive healthcare when needed, such as IVF, which has been crucial in my own journey.
This is why, when the election day arrives on November 5th, I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris. Not only will it be a historic moment to have the first woman, and the first woman of color, serving as President, but her leadership also offers hope to thousands of Americans like myself, who are navigating the difficult journey of infertility. Harris represents optimism for the future, and I believe her presidency will bring both progress and compassion to those of us seeking to start families.
