Osbornes Law, a prominent London-based law firm, has become the first in its sector to introduce a comprehensive fertility testing program for employees and their partners. This initiative, spearheaded by the firm’s newly appointed managing partner, Jo Wescott, is part of a broader suite of health benefits offered to staff.
The firm’s new offering includes complimentary, clinically validated at-home hormone tests. These tests, which encompass an online evaluation of ovarian reserve and a check for up to 18 reproductive health conditions—including endometriosis and polycystic ovary syndrome—aim to provide a thorough understanding of reproductive health. Additionally, Osbornes Law will cover the cost of specialist consultations for employees experiencing perimenopause and menopause.
This development follows Wescott’s recent appointment as the firm’s first female managing partner. A mother of two, Wescott has personal insight into the challenges of fertility and family planning. Her decision to launch this initiative was influenced by observing friends struggle with starting families, and she expressed a desire to offer support to employees navigating similar issues.
“I was in my mid-to-late 30s when I had my children, which is medically considered advanced maternal age,” Wescott explained. “Although I didn’t face fertility issues myself, many of my friends and colleagues did. The realization that such struggles can affect anyone is profound and often devastating. It impacts relationships deeply, something I’ve seen both personally and professionally.”
Wescott emphasized the importance of allowing employees to take proactive measures regarding their reproductive health. “As managing partner, it’s my responsibility to support our workforce, the majority of whom are women,” she said. “My goal is to ensure that employees are happy and healthy at work, and this program is a step towards achieving that.”
