Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders has officially signed the “Reproductive Empowerment and Support Through Optimal Restoration (RESTORE) Act” into law. The bill, modeled after a proposal from the Ethics and Public Policy Center (EPPC) and the Heritage Foundation, aims to improve reproductive health and address infertility in Arkansas.
The new law focuses on restorative reproductive medicine, a set of medical protocols designed to treat the underlying causes of infertility and reproductive dysfunction.
Natalie Dodson, a policy analyst at EPPC, expressed gratitude for the efforts of Governor Sanders, Representative Alyssa Brown, and Representative Jim Dotson. She emphasized that this legislation is vital in tackling the national infertility and reproductive health crisis by providing Arkansas women with access to essential medical treatments.
The RESTORE Act will expand the use of fertility awareness-based methods, infertility diagnostic procedures, and educational resources throughout the state. It also requires annual reports on the standards of care for diagnosing infertility, ensuring transparency and continuous improvement in reproductive health care.
Sponsored by Representatives Brown and Dotson, the legislation marks a significant step toward addressing reproductive health challenges in Arkansas.
