Expectant mothers on the Island are being encouraged to attend Healthy Mums, Healthy Babies Week, an event organized by the Jane Crookall Maternity Unit team. The event, which will take place at The Roundhouse from January 20 to 24, offers a valuable opportunity for pregnant women to connect with professionals who can support them throughout their pregnancy journey.
The drop-in sessions will run daily from 9 am to 1 pm and will feature a variety of services available to families, including midwives, health visitors, police, the birth reflection team, and representatives from the neonatal unit.
Regan Baggley, the Head of Midwifery, expressed that the week is designed to provide expectant mothers with information, support, and advice, particularly during what can be a stressful and overwhelming time. “We understand that being pregnant can be daunting and stressful whether it’s the first time or otherwise. This week is an opportunity for parents to come along and discuss any concerns with the team, to find out what support is available, and how you can maintain healthy habits,” Baggley said.
All pregnant women, as well as those planning to start a family, are welcome to attend. A timetable of available services will be shared soon, and the team looks forward to welcoming participants. This event comes after Manx Care discontinued face-to-face antenatal classes last year, making this initiative an essential resource for expectant parents looking for in-person guidance and assistance.
