WASHINGTON – Former Real Housewives of Potomac star Candiace Dillard Bassett is embracing motherhood as she celebrates the arrival of her son, Jett Maxwell Lee Bassett. The reality TV star and singer opened up about her journey to parenthood and her plans for the future in an exclusive interview with Marissa Mitchell on FOX Local’s Motivation with Marissa.
Eight-week-old Jett, whom Bassett shares with her husband, Chris Bassett, carries a name rich with meaning. “Jett” translates to “excellence” and “abundance” in Hebrew, values that Candiace hopes will shape his life.
“That is what I would want for any child of mine… to come into the world and have their life start with excellence and abundance,” Bassett shared.
A Long-Awaited Journey to Parenthood
Fans of Real Housewives of Potomac followed the couple’s journey with in vitro fertilization (IVF) on the show. Bassett revealed that stepping away from the series was partly motivated by her desire to raise her son in peace.
“It makes all of the questions and the back-and-forth and all of the injections and waiting worth it… because here he is,” she said, reflecting on the challenges of IVF. While grateful for the support she received during her journey, Bassett expressed a protective instinct toward her son.
“I knew I wanted to share with the world that he is here, but I am also very aware of how interesting and scary the world can be. I just want to keep him safe for as long as I can,” she added.
Thoughts on the Show and New Beginnings
Although no longer a cast member, Bassett shared that she doesn’t watch the show but stays informed through family and friends. She expressed excitement for newcomer Stacey Rusch, who has garnered praise from fans.
“I’ve heard that people love her, and I love that for her,” Bassett said. “She’s well-liked because she’s coming in authentically, unburdened with an assignment to be something specific. She’s just being herself.”
Big Plans for 2025
As she enjoys the early days of motherhood, Bassett is also preparing for a busy year ahead. She teased new music, a tour, and other projects slated for 2025.
In the meantime, she’s cherishing the love and encouragement of her fans, whom she affectionately calls Jett’s “internet aunties and uncles.”
“I feel that love and support so much,” Bassett said. “I am grateful and thankful for that. It overshadows anything that has been unsavory.”
With her baby boy by her side and a slate of exciting plans ahead, Candiace Dillard Bassett is poised for a fulfilling new chapter.
